Federico Chialvo
Federico is the founder of Joyful Mathematics, and has been an educator for over 15 years as a teacher, administrator and coach. He holds a BS in Mathematics and a Masters in Education from the University of Arizona.
He believes mathematics has something for everyone to enjoy, and mathematics can gain something from everyone who engages with it in their way!
Federico specializes in developing authentic experiences of mathematics. He is driven by a passion to (re)humanize mathematics education, by broadening mainstream culture’s definition of what and who is mathematical, and by harnessing the power of surprise and wonder to inspire the next generation of problem solvers.
He has taught every grade level from PK-12, in a wide variety of contexts including public, private, international and charter schools. Throughout his career he has been an innovative leader in his school community, helping to create new programs, developing culturally responsive curriculum, and building positive relationships through mathematics.
